Welcome to Sedna Australia

Sedna  (Inuit mythology) goddess of the sea

Sedna Australia specialises in research in the marine and coastal environments.

We conduct research relating to marine protected areas (MPAs), estuaries, coastal zones and the marine environment in general. We focus on research in the social sciences including stakeholder identification and engagement, social value, social impact assessment, critical incident research and community attitudes research. These are critical inputs for effective decisionmaking in the management of our coastal zone and marine resources.

Research update - Social value of Sydney Harbour - Wednesday, March 28, 2012

We have just commenced a major project through SIMS, to identify the key stakeholders of Sydney harbour and upstream estuaries, to create value profiles for these stakeholders and support these with qualitative descriptions of value. This will be followed by a quantitative study producing broad social value profiles that will inform decision-making relating to the harbour.

Research update - Wednesday, February 22, 2012

We have recently completed stakeholder value research in a range of commercial contexts and are now actively developing stakeholder value assessment frameworks for MPAs.
